Bernardo Winery

One of my favorite hidden treasures in San Diego! Spend a few hours at this charming winery tucked away in Rancho Bernardo. At the winery, you can do a wine tasting, grab a bite to eat at their Cafe Merlot, go shopping in their cute little shops and even satisfy your sweet tooth at their little chocolate shop.

My favorite part of their wine tasting is that for $10 you can get 6 tastings of their wines. For each wine selection, you are encouraged to walk down to the chocolate shop for a small piece of chocolate to pair with your wine. The woman in the shop will explain the percentage of chocolate that goes with your wine and why.

The entire property is quite beautiful with the old spanish style winery feel complete with trailing vines and even a couple wagon wheels. This is my favorite place to take a date or a group of friends.

On Sunday afternoons, you can enjoy live music on their patio while enjoying a cheese platter from the small cafe with your wine.

My favorite wine here is their bubbly orange moscato. It is a sweeter wine, but very unique for a moscato. I always end up bringing home a bottle or three 🙂
